Named after Dr Joseph A. Reed, the first superintendent of the institution, Reed Hall was the main building of the facility. Reed Hall was designed by the ideals set forth by Dr. Thomas Story Kirkbride, as were other institutions throughout the country. The design kept the hospital accessible, and also separated the different wards from each other. You can read more about Kirkbride facilities at www.kirkbridebuildings.com

The dietary building was directly behind Reed Hall. The ground floor of this building held the loading dock, food storage rooms, cleaning supply storage, and multiple large freezers. Upstairs were the auditorium, cafeteria, and kitchen. A small third floor held what appeared to be employee locker rooms.
